Question 1:     Is automobile insurance coverage mandatory in Newfoundland and Labrador?

Yes, motor vehicle owners in Newfoundland and Labrador are required by law to purchase a minimum of $200,000 in Third-Party Liability coverage and Uninsured Motorist coverage through a private insurer. Higher liability limits and additional optional coverages are also available for purchase to better suit your needs. Your insurance representative will be able to help you decide what level of coverage is best for you.
